Ride to Work has now carried 340 riders to/from work in the seven years we have been in operation. Riders are referred to us from Our Daily Rest homeless shelter, local employers/temp agencies, local churches, and other agencies like the Food Pantry, Salvation Army, etc. Half of our riders graduate, meaning they keep their job and find their own way to work, usually by saving for a vehicle (car or moped) or finding a ride with a co worker.
To help riders make progress, Ride To Work provides coaches for each rider to guide them in putting together and completing a success plan. Here is what one rider who recently graduated told us “One of the best decisions I ever made was joining the Ride to Work ministry. With the help of my coach, I was able to create a budget, put aside weekly savings, and eventually had enough money to buy a car identified to me by my coach. My sincere appreciation to the whole Ride to Work ministry team. What a Great service to Oconee county!”
